Even in comparison to major American cities, Boston is particularly safe and has little to worry travellers.

Outside of one’s usual travelling precautions, one should be wary of going into the city’s numerous parks at night (outside of organised events of course). As a drinking town, drink-related crimes can be prevalent, and especially when the Red Sox play (and win especially), so take care at these times, but not much to worry one overly.
