Q: How much does a uniform traffic citation cost for violating a pedestrian control signal device (walk, don't walk indicator)? A: According to the 77th District Court, the fine is $60.
Q: Are all stop signs on campus enforceable by a law enforcement officer? A: Yes.
Q: Are pedestrian safety laws new? A: No. Many of the pedestrian safety laws were enacted by the State of Michigan before 1950.
Q: Can a pedestrian be held legally responsible for causing a traffic crash? A: Yes.
Q: What is the best way to get out of a pedestrian ticket? A: Follow all pedestrian safety laws and ordinances, and "Travel Ferris Safely!"
Q: I was not personally contacted about the enforcement mobilization. Can I use this as a defense in court? A: No. Citizens are responsible for following all laws and ordinances. In an effort to assist citizens with understanding pedestrian safety laws and ordinances, which is not required prior to enforcement, the Ferris State University Traffic Safety Team has initiated and lead several education efforts since 2003.
