Nursing student Jessica Finney (left) was recognized recently by Chief Marty Bledsoe of the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety and FSUTST (right) for her courageous efforts on Jan. 16 in assisting the victim of a vehicle and pedestrian accident. While driving on South Street in Big Rapids near the University's Business Building, Finney observed an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian with both parties being fellow Ferris students. Witnesses reported Finney immediately went to check on the accident victim for injuries, and after discovering the victim had an injury to the head that was bleeding, she held pressure on the wound to help control bleeding and also maintained control of the victim's neck to protect him from futher injury. |

Students of the Ferris State University FSUS100 course volunteer their time to help promote traffic safety through four hours of community service, which was conducted on November 1, 2005 at the Ferris State University FLITE library. The students helped organize public information materials for distribution. This was coordinated through Jim Santilli of the FSUTST. |

Besides organizing public information materials for distribution, the students also developed a list of engineering, education, and enforcement recommendations for the FSUTST. The students are part of the Ferris State University FSUS100 course, and volunteered their time to help promote traffic safety through four hours of community service, which was conducted on November 1, 2005 at the Ferris State University FLITE library. This was coordinated through Jim Santilli of the FSUTST. |
